Improve Your Sex Life By Getting Fit!

Ever wished you could make sex better? It’s something we’ve all probably thought about at one time or another, and luckily there’s one simple and easy trick that works wonders.

Get fit!

Good sex and good health go hand in hand, and getting fit is one of the easiest ways to improve your sex life!

In this article, we’ll show you some of the great bedroom benefits that come with a healthy bod, simple and easy workouts which help strengthen all the right muscles, and some great sex positions that can help you burn extra calories.

Bedroom Benefits of Keeping Fit

For the skeptics among you, let’s take a look at just how a healthy body can improve your sex life!

More Stamina

It’s a simple concept really. The more you exercise, the longer you can exercise. This increased stamina will translate directly into the bedroom, helping you last longer when having sex and feel less tired afterwards.

More Flexibility

Use it or lose it! By having a varied and regular exercise regime, your body will become more flexible. This means more adventurous sex positions are much easier to manage, and you won’t end up with aches, pains or pulled muscles afterwards.

Less Stress

21st century people are busy! With so much going on in our lives, it’s easy to let the stress build up and start to affect your life. Exercise is a natural way to release endorphins and reduce your stress levels, which lets you stay focused on the action while getting kinky.

Better Blood Flow

Regular exercise will improve your heart’s ability to pump blood around the body. Better blood flow can lead to stronger sensations in your most sensitive areas, and for men can help stave off erectile dysfunction!

Better, Stronger Orgasms

The pelvic floor muscles are a very important muscle group which play a big role in your sexual pleasure. Strong and healthy pelvic floor muscles can mean stronger, more frequent orgasms. Luckily, there are loads of different exercises which help power up your pelvic floor!

Higher Self Esteem

A less often thought of benefit to exercise is simply that it makes you feel good! With a healthy body you’ll feel more attractive, which can often lead to higher sex drive and simply more enjoyment from sex.

Great Workouts to Improve Your Sex Life!

Now you know why working out makes sex so much better, the question is: which exercises should I be doing? Let’s go over some of the most effective exercises to make you better in bed!

Kegel Exercises

You’ve probably heard of them before, but these simple exercises really are one of the best things you can do for your sex life. Originally recommended to pregnant and post-labor women, Kegels are now viewed as an exercise everyone should be doing every day.

A Kegel consists of a simple tense and relax motion of the pelvic floor muscles which cover the bottom of your torso. Repeat in three sets of ten per day, and these muscles will gradually become stronger over time.

Swimming

Undoubtedly one of the best overall exercises, swimming can also work wonders for your sex life. It ticks all the boxes we listed above, making it one of the most beneficial things you can do for your body. Some studies also find that regular swimmers have a higher sex drive than people the same age who don’t swim!

Pelvic Thrusts

You might feel a little silly doing this one in the gym, but getting good at pelvic thrusts will make positions like missionary and cowgirl that much easier to stomach.

All you need to do here is lie on the floor with your hands by your side, knees raised, and feet flat on the floor. Then thrust, thrust, thrust! Over time your stamina will increase and you’ll have much greater control over your lower body when it counts.

Planks

Planks are the bane of many gym enthusiasts, but just like the others on our list they can work wonders for you. Getting better at the plank can improve your ability to support your own weight as well as improving your balance and making some more adventurous positions more attainable.

To plank is pretty simple. Get yourself into a pushup position, but rather than going up and down engage your core muscles and straighten everything up. Hold for around 20 seconds, then take a break before you go again.

There are loads of other exercises that can help improve your sex life too! We’ve named a few key ones here, but basically anything that strengthens your core (like pushups), increases stamina (like jogging or cycling), or improves your flexibility (like yoga) will all have a positive effect when you go between the sheets!

Does Sex Count as Exercise?

You might have heard people say that sex is the best kind of exercise. Unfortunately, this isn’t really the case. It’s better than no exercise at all, but on average sex burns less calories than almost anything else you could do!

That’s not to say you can’t have workout sex though! You just need to put a little more thought into the positions you choose rather than just settling for the old classics.

Best Calorie Burning Sex Positions

Here are some of our favourite sex positions for those of you who want your lovemaking sessions to be a little more intense!

The Wheelbarrow

Just like the race you might have done while you were younger, the wheelbarrow is also a great sex position to test your limits! For the receiving partner, this will engage all the core muscles as well as promote strength. The penetrating partner will also get a workout from holding you up.

The Exercise Ball

If you’re lucky enough to have an exercise ball lying around, why not take advantage of it for some exercise ball sex? This will be a test of balance for the receiving partner, who lies face down on the ball and steadies themself with their hands and toes. Meanwhile the giving partner gets into a squat position to thrust away, working those legs and promoting hip flexibility!

The Reverse Bridge

A real test of strength for the receiving partner! The reverse bridge is exactly what it sounds like, with the receiving partner bending backwards and creating a square shape with their body by resting on their hands and feet. This tests their core strength and balance, as they try to maintain the position while their partner kneels down and goes to work!

Cowgirl

Not all workout sex positions have to be difficult! Good old cowgirl can still make the riding partner sweat. You can add extra intensity by riding harder and faster, leaning back on your hands, or getting into a squat position. Unfortunately the “cow” in this scenario doesn’t get much of a workout, but sometimes all you want to do is lie back and enjoy the show...

Enhance Your Training With Butt Plugs!

Exercise regimes aren’t the only kind of training you can do to enhance your sex life! Anal training is another way to keep your body in tip top condition, and make getting between the sheets that much more enjoyable.

We’ve mentioned them before, but the pelvic floor muscles are incredibly important when it comes to sexual pleasure. Strengthening them is one simple and easy way to enhance sex.

Wearing a butt plug can also help tone these muscles, as holding it in place forces you to engage them. By picking up an anal training kit, you can work your way through different sizes of butt plug and gradually strengthen the muscles. Before you know it, you’ll be having the best sex of your life!
